SUSAN MUSTOKOFF AKSELRAD, JD
Former Chief Employment Counsel for Solvay S.A.'s North American Companies

Ms. Akselrad has served as in-house counsel for business, litigation, labor and employment to US subsidiaries of global chemical companies for more than 25 years. Most recently she was Chief Employment Counsel for Solvay S.A.’s North American companies. Solvay, an international company employing over 30,000 people worldwide and embracing a broad, diversified product portfolio, is instrumental in the development of solar-powered air travel, acting as a key partner in the Solar Impulse project. Akselrad has provided legal advice on a wide range of issues, trained employees, mentored human resources personnel at all levels, and served as the confidant and advisor to senior management. She has also acted as a key resource in matters of crisis communication.

Retired as of February 2016, Akselrad is now focused on contributing her skills to philanthropic causes, primarily in the area of education. Prior to pursuing a legal career, she taught in the Philadelphia school system, including three years as a science teacher for elementary and special needs students. She is a founding member of the board seeking a charter for the Great Oaks Charter School of New York and now serves as its board chairperson.

Akselrad also sits on the board of Project Renewal, an organization devoted to aiding the homeless population of New York with matters of health, housing, and jobs.
