Partners in Science

Please note: Applications are now closed for Partners in Science, Summer 2022.

In its 36th year, Liberty Science Center’s Partners in Science program takes students beyond textbooks and school-based labs by immersing them in authentic scientific research conducted by professional scientists.

What is Partners in Science?
Partners in Science is an intensive, eight-week summer program for rising high school juniors and seniors that pairs students with mentors in science, health, and technical fields. It exposes them to current questions driving scientific discovery and challenges them to participate in ongoing research and independent projects. Those accepted to Partners in Science receive a $1000 stipend. To receive the stipend, students must have a valid Social Security Number.

Application Requirements

The following items are required to apply to the 2022 Partners in Science Program:

  • Responses to brief questions and essays (see online application)
  • Your response for the highest education level must be High School
  • Recommendation forms filled out by two different references by Friday, March 18, 2022

Upon applying, you will receive a link for the reference recommendation forms.

Once we have received the completed application, a panel will evaluate all applicants based on their areas of study, lab experience, recommendation letters, and essays. We will invite selected students for an interview.

After the interviews, the panel will narrow the candidates and select who will continue on to interview with a potential mentor.

The mentor will decide whether the candidate is officially selected to participate in the 2022 Partners in Science program.
