Margaret Lanning is a highly experienced financial services executive. Her extensive background in banking and finance includes management responsibilities in wholesale banking, leasing and credit administration. In her capacity as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer for Investors Bank, she also serves as the Chair of the Credit Approval Committee, Chair of the Credit Risk Committee and Chair of the Special Assets Committee. Lanning is a proven leader and manager for credit risk management/administration, portfolio management of middle market, small business commercial customers, and commercial real estate clients in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Lanning is active and passionate in developing future business leaders through leadership positions in various mentoring programs, and in promoting quality education. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Institute for Women’s Leadership at Rutgers University and is a past member of the Board of Associates of Randolph-Macon College. Lanning founded Wells Fargo’s WINGS Mentoring Program, a program she co-developed with the Center for Women and Work for undergraduate women students. She is a past recipient of the NJBIZ Best 50 Women in Business Award, the TWIN (Tribute to Women and Industry) Award and Woman of Influence in Finance Award. She was also an Award Honoree of the New Jersey Salute to Policy Makers. Lanning is a former member of the Board of Directors of NJ Bankers and served as the Chairwoman of the New Jersey Women in Banking Conference, a conference she founded in 2011. More recently, she co-founded the New York Women in Banking Conference in 2013 and has been a frequent speaker at their conferences.

She previously served as the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) at OceanFirst Bank where she provided credit leadership for all lending activities and established a strong credit culture in the Bank’s footprint of New Jersey, New York and Eastern Pennsylvania. Lanning managed a division staff devoted to Credit Underwriting, Portfolio Management and Special Assets (Loan Work-out). She delivered regular presentations to the Loan Committee of the Bank’s Board of Directors regarding asset quality and trends. In her capacity as CCO, she led the credit due diligence effort for the Bank’s merger activity and, in support of future growth, led the development of portfolio reporting criteria and processes to manage risk concentration, systemic controls for regulatory compliance, and other risk factors.

Prior to OceanFirst Bank, Lanning worked at Wells Fargo for 21 years in positions of increasing authority and, most recently, was the Senior Vice President - Credit Administration/Regional Business Banking. In that role, she led the Regional Business Banking (RBB) enhancement of new loan origination inspection, emerging risk detection process and reporting for the RBB Chief Credit Officer. She also provided oversight for the project to establish enterprise-wide processes to ensure consistent and timely self-assessment of Business Banking credit performance and conformity with risk appetite, credit-culture and policies. In addition, she had oversight of the project to establish processes for consistent and timely review of trailing twelve month Risk Asset Review examination findings to ensure regular communication across Business Banking LOB and Credit Administration. Her prior position as Senior Regional Credit Officer for the Northeast Region required Margaret to provide leadership for Business Banking lending activities in the Northeast Region comprised of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. She also provided supplemental oversight to loan workout unit strategies and centralized underwriting units supporting the Northeast Region.
